This was the graduation ride for Group 1. You'll take a typical route up to Nyack on the west side of the Hudson for a picnic lunch by the river. Then cross the new Mario Cuomo Bridge to Tarrytown, where you have a relatively short but steep climb to get up to the South County Trailway. The trailway was refurbished in 2022 and is mostly smooth & lovely. The last 6 miles or so are a sweet 1-2% downhill grade. The ride ends at Van Cortlandt park in the Bronx where you should treat yourself to Lloyd's Carrot Cake, then take the #1 train or ride farther down Broadway to the A train at 207th St.
One serious note: THERE IS NO SHADE ON THE CUOMO BRIDGE. It's 3 miles long and is VERY hot in the summer. There are, however, several overlooks where you can stop and check out the views.
