Courtesy of the Westchester Cycle Club, this ride is a loop from Katonah, returning back to it, accessible by train from New York City. 56 miles of beautiful country roads venturing east to Connecticut, covering Katonah, Bedford, West Norwalk, New Canaan, Darien, and Pound Ridge.

This ride begins and ends at the Metro North rail station in Katonah, NY on the northbound side of the tracks. If arriving by car, park in the Woods Bridge Commuter Parking lot, which is approximately 1/4 mile from the station. See the paragraph for Wood Bridge Parking "point of interest" below for details.

One cool thing about this ride is that if you turn your head a bit the route map looks sort of like a map of Italy, with a growth on its heel. (And if you are into the idea of GPS art, see this great article on it in the New York Times.

Mile 29: Food Stop at Bruegger's Bagels. The route goes one block past Cherry St. on Main St. to get to the Bruegger's. Retrace one block after the stop and make a right on Main St. to continue the route.

End of ride: If you cross over the tracks the downtown area of Katonah is delightful, with many food/drink/rest room alternatives. To return to the Woods Bridge parking area at the end of the ride stay on Jay St, cross over the tracks, it becomes Parkway. Turn right on Bedford Road, it becomes Woods Bridge Road. The parking area is on your left.

Click on the "Print Trip" link under "Trip Tools" in the right hand column to format this page for printing. You can send the track to an iPhone, GPS device, or your computer by clicking on the appropriate link in the "Send This Trip To" section in the right hand column.

A note re elevation data for riders who use it. Different mapping websites use different elevation source data, and the sampling point frequency varies across GPS units. As a result, the "total elevation gain" statistic can vary widely from site to site and unit to unit. Garmin units and the GarminConnect site indicate a significantly higher total elevation gain for this ride than does this Bicycling/Trimble site. We suggest you use the elevation data only to compare rides on the same site with data gathered the same way. Go out and ride!
